GingerMan Report
Here are some photos and video I took at the GingerMan event. http://members.mustangworks.com/drud...gingerman2001/
My Mustang sat at home with a detroyed T5 from the Show&Go, and didnt get the new TKO till it arrived at the loading dock literally at 11:30pm saturday night. No time to install... So Scott Whitehead and I arrived together sunday night. Too bad the State Trooper asked us to remain in the car... Would'a liked to have gotten a photo of the flashing lights... (ok, so he forgot to get his trailer re-registered) Monday morning: Started off VERY foggy in the morning. Opened up tech and registration, and all went pretty smoothe. I was surprised to hear that one car waiting to pass tech was "changing springs"... What? Yes, literally changing VALVE springs in the pit area. Got it all in and running. (I'm impressed). We ran the first session with headlights (and foglights) on, as the fog still hasnt lifted. The four cornerworkers were concerned, but let us out anyways. After a few HOURS, the fog lifted, and the day turned out beautiful. We had a casualty with the Shelby Daytona losing a wheel (by breaking off the hub) and sailing the tire out off the track into the horizon... Luckily, only minor fender damage. We called for a flat bed tow truck, and took an early lunch break at 11:00 while we got the car off the track (in a little over an hour). He got it repaired by the end of the day. Several cars were off track and needed to be towed in. Thanks Brad for your AAA-towing services. On the 3rd session, Scott's car was sputtering (again), followed by a few backfires, followed by quiet... So he chewed thru yet another steel distributor gear in 45 minutes of driving. Hmmmmm.... Larry was black-flagged for "something hanging and a little smoke". He pulled into the hot pit lane. We looked, and it was only the stock oil-level sender (must have come undone from the zip-tie, no biggie), and a small leak from the rear of the intake. Next session, I hear over the radio that they wanna black-flag him again. I get on the radio, and say that its ok..... [10 seconds go by] and on the back straight, the motor lets go. Looked like an airshow with a bi-plane doing a fly-bye with the smoke trail... The cornerworkers get on the radio "...looks more than a little oil leak now...". Larry was glad that at least it wasnt the headgasket. He said you could feel that the connecting rod was loose as you could grab it thru the hole in the side of the oilpan. There were several people I talked to that we correspond thru the internet, and that was neat to put a face on an email address. There was a BEAUTIFUL Shelby, full tubular chassis, IRS, engine set back to about the radio...! WAY COOL! By the end of the day, everyone had enough fun. The 2nd to last session, there were only 4 cars out there. And we shut the whole event down eary by not running the last session. Packed up, and went home. Great day. Got to ride in a couple of cars myself, and sure beat sitting at work... ------------------ Darius Rudis Roadracer: Home built t-arm/panhard suspension powered by an S-trimmed motor :-) My Mustang Page |

What's the track like? Is it in good condition (smooth, few bumps, etc)?
I'm thinking of coming up there in Oct for the end of season session. --jp ------------------ '99 GT |

Its one of my favorite tracks. Very smoothe, 3-lanes wide, and nice straights to stretch your legs...
I'll be there October 27th. ------------------ Darius Rudis Roadracer: Home built t-arm/panhard suspension powered by an S-trimmed motor :-) My Mustang Page |
