Monroe Formula GP Shocks / disappointed
I've received a lot of great information on these shocks from all the good people on the Late Model Tech board and from the Moderator from this site. And last night I found them for sale on www.modernmustang.com. Today I was doing some comparison shopping at my good friends auto parts store, where we finally found them in the Monroe Catalog's after some digging. I was amazed at how much cheaper they were than on the web site. For example the struts for the 86 GT were about $135.00 for a pair, $34.00 cheaper than the web site. Anyway he calls me at home late this afternoon and tells me that not only can't he order them, he even called the Factory. According to him they have DISCONTINUED this shock?? I didn't think to ask him at the time, but if they have discontinued them, WHAT HAVE THEY BEEN REPLACED WITH in the Monroe line,if anything? Does anyone have a 1-800 line to the MONROE Factory so I could talk to the Technical people? I'm really disappointed. Tim ------------------ |

I heard rumor(?) that they may have stopped making them. Now I guess it may be true. Possibly some of the website catalog places still have leftover stock.
If not, gimme some time, but I can sell you my 11,000 mile ones for $150 for all four. ------------------ Darius Rudis Home built t-arm/panhard suspension powered by an S-trimmed motor :-) My Mustang Page |

Durdis,
Thank you for your kind offer, the price is very reasonable. However, I guess I'll continue my shock quest. I did get in touch with the Monroe Tech Support people and they did verify that the Formula GP line was shut down due to sales. They just were not selling enough. And they have no plans at the present time to offer a replacement shock. However they did try and get me interested in the Sensi-Track shock they make. If you are taking off your Formula GP's what shock are you moving to next? Tim ------------------ |
