Fox SLA?
What's the cheapest way to go SLA on a fox?
www.ipschassis.com has an introduction kit for $600 (+shocks). This retains the stock LCA's, springs, etc. This is by far the cheapest set I've seen, but it seems like a lot for a couple of arms. (I've thought about fabricating my own). The 2000 Cobra R uses the lincoln (DEW98) rear upper on the front... but I imagine they're not readily available, or too cheep either. The mustang II suspension is alright, but it's entirely different... with the spring up in the tower... and I don't wanna get into K-member swaps, or putting the load of a coil-over on the stock tower. ------------------ '89.5 5L LX, hatch, Medium Canyon Red, 150K Km (No winters), 5sp, 3.08, GT interior, a/c, Alpine CD, K/N, Crane PS91, Walbro 190 LPH, March Pulleys, Mr. Gasket 180 therm (HP balanced), 3 core rad, Polygraphite front bushings, FMS-5300B springs, 6 KYB's, 73mm Calipers, Maximum Motorsport 4pt chassis brace, Western Motorsport Racing's Sub-frame connectors. Re-ringed bottom end, melling oil pump, FMS-C50 waterpump, GT40P heads (blended, pollished, milled .03"), Explorer intake (pollished & port matched), Manley Race Flow Valves, FMS ceramic headers (2 head gaskets & Accel P526S plug for #8 cyl.), Taylor 90* wires with sleeves, Crane 1.7rr, 2031 cam and fuel pressure regulator (43PSI), fabricated ram air and strut mounts. http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/ViewIt.cgi?http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/moi-display.cgi*960 http://phystutor.tripod.com/stang/index.html |

I have seen the SLA on a car that I race with. He had an older version (3 years ago), that couldnt be adjusted to get all the range he wanted for open track events. Since then, he bought a newer SLA suspension. Now he's got some tuning to do, but is currently pleased.
These two combos were AFTER his initial Griggs K-member installation. ------------------ Darius Rudis Roadracer: Home built t-arm/panhard suspension powered by an S-trimmed motor :-) My Mustang Page |

Wow, that T arm is inspiring... did you have blueprints? What does it weigh?

I made my own torque arm similar to the one on Darius' car. (Thanks for answering my questions back in the day, D!) I used the prints in the Mathis book (Mustang Performance 2, available through HP Motorbooks), combined with some aspects of the Griggs design. My arm is made from .120 wall box steel with a .250 back plate, and is HEAVY! ...but it works.
