Default Full length or shorties?

I'm still deciding whether to get full length headers or shorties. I know full length will give me more power. However, I also heard that sometimes full length headers might scrape the ground if your car is too low. Would I be able to use full length headers on my stock '96. If it makes any difference, I was looking at MAC headers.
