Default Side Exit Exhaust (take two...)

I decided to re-do mine (after 5 years of pounding the sidepipes onto speedbumps...)
This was done is SS304. Sure the linear expansion is a wee bit more, yet the thermal conductivity is nearly 1/3... Plus it dont rust and it looks cool.

Material Properties Mild Steel-1010 SS304
Tensile Strength lb/in2 (70 F) 55,000 85,000
Yield Strength lb/in2 (70 F) 40,000 35,000
Elongation percent 20 55
Density lb/in2 0.283 0.29
Modulus of Elasticity x 106 lb/in2 29.5 28
Coefficient of Thermal Expansion in/in-F x 106 (70'F) 7.228 9.9
Coefficient of Thermal Conductivity BTU/ft-hr-F (70'F) 26.98 9.4

Sounds great at idle, not toooo loud. BUt open it up, and "OH MY GAWD" loud.

Oh well, good thing I'll be wearing a helmet and earplugs most of the time...

And... you haven't posted a sound/video clip in your media center gallery so we can all hear it why?

I just put it together, and did only one 10-minute test drive.

Sounds great at idle, kinda like a Harley (with mufflers) in a low deep rumble, but not loud.

Cruising is nice FFR Cobra sidepipe sound, mellow deep sidepipe sound.

WOT is like all hell broke loose. ITS LOUD!!! DOH!
Got on I-275 and did a 3rd gear WOT "dyno pull". Passed a semi and the bounce off the truck back into the car was REALLY LOUD. Oh well, good thing I'll be wearing a helmet and earplugs most of the time at the track.

Will have video footage when I go to GingerMan Raceway for the weekend.

I've had sort of the same idea as what you did here but yours looks alot easier than what I had in mind. How did you seal off to keep water, etc. out of the car?

I _made_ my own torque-arm (actually this is the second one I built which is a twin 2x1" beam, versus the original 2"-beam).

I dont have a water/rain issue. Never drive the car in the rain... no issue.
No really, with slicks in each corner, I dont drive it EVER in the rain.

p.s. Here is a 35Meg video clip:
