Post I need help with suspension

OK guys and gals... here is my newest problem. I went out Sunday night to some local street races and for the first time in a long while. I gave a camaro three cars and only pulled him by one car because I was spinning through third and only catching traction in fourth. I am not so informed on the suspension side of mustangs, so I don't have any clue as to what I need to make my car hook up. I already have adjustable Griggs lower control arms in the rear and subframe connectors (do they do anything for traction?) but what else do I need? I don't want to pull my front sway bar because I drive my car on the streets and highways about 50 miles a day. I am already looking into a pair of drag radials, but I need specifics as far as shocks, springs, etc... Thanks in advance everyone.

Stock springs are ok...But put an air bag on the pass. side
some lakewood 50/50's out back
and those drag radials, and you will be hooking b4 you know it.

I thought I would add one more bit of important info. I am looking for as close to the best of both worlds (drag and cornering) as possible, but leaning more towards a drag setup. Thanks again.

After doing a little research online and searching through the archives, here is what seems to be a fairly basic list:

70/30 Lakewood Struts up front
50/50 Lakewood Shocks in the back
4 Cyl. springs
and a set of DR's or slicks

I already have the LCA's. Should I get UCA's? How does that list look? Think I'll be able to hook before the top of third?

Yeah you'll be hookin' alright but don't try to take those corners very fast.

I run no front sway bar, 70/30's, 50/50's and the Eibach DRAG launch kit. Lots of transfer, but I don't take corners hard, I really am not into that, that can be seem with my 15 x 3.5 Draglites on the front.

Get the struts and shocks, and if you don't want to buy a good set of uppers, weld plates on your stock uppers to box them in, it helps a lot. I set my pinion angle at 5 degrees which is about the max for a street car anything over 5 degrees should be run at the track only. Don't neglet the torque boxes either, you should weld them up and add a re-enforcement kit. I make a kit that is similar to the BAttle boxes but it has some added support that they don't, they are made from stainless instead of stell so they won't rusyt and they are stronger, e-mail me if your intrested

Is there anything else I can do to help in the corners? I drive it on the road more than at the track, but I can't even hook on the road...Light throttle in first breaks em loose sometimes.

Ok.. I got the Lakewood 50/50's and SSM upper control arms on today. I will be doing to 70/30's next weekend. After I buttoned everything up, I took it out for a spin (literally) and it still won't hook until the middle of third gear. I am hoping that the 70/30's next weekend will help the front come up and transfer the weight better, letting the new rear suspension do its work. Any ideas on what I can do to help my car corner a little better now? Thanks in advance.

Join the club, Nothing will make your car dead hook on radials, even with all my suspension mods I can go out easy in first or second or even third and stomp the pedal and burn the tires off the rims. It's all about the horsepower and how you shift. The drag radials will help but they will not be perfect either. You have to learn to take off easy not launch like you would at the track then get on the throttle, eventually you find the least way to break traction.

I don't even make rediculous power. I'd hate to see guys making 400 at the wheels try and launch on radials. I am somewhat afraid of feathering the clutch though, because I don't wanna wear the crap out of my clutch. I guess I'm just whining now. That's the thing about modding mustangs, when it breaks, just fix it...

Dude i pulled my sway bar yesterday, had to because i broke a bushing when i missed a stop sighn friday, i was hesistant when all my friends told me to pull it because i drive about 80 on the higway ect... but it made little diference, and i like the extra weight transfer it gave me, although i mostly stock, i can get a little squirrley on a hard shift to 3rd also, nothing completly hooks without full slicks?

im getting 70/30's up front, and some control arms out back. I could feel a little diference but not much without sway, the front end felt a little light, thus making it (feel) a little more unstable, however i was cornering just fine, even in pothole and curvy terrain like my neighborhood, i just hope i dont pull another stunt like friday's.

It's when you have skinnys and no front sway then the fun begins With those you can't take turns fast anyway unless you want to go straight , into a curb.
