Problems with starting and acceleration
Last week my car died and I tried to jump it with a few cars, nothing would work. Finally I took off all the cables to the battery and cleaned them and put it all back together. It started right up.
Now it is having problems starting again. It takes three long tries to start it everytime, before it would always start right up. It also has become noticably slower the last two days. Sometimes it feels like I'm driving a four banger. It starts to accelerate and then it becomes really sluggish around 2500 rpms. It's going to the mechanic on Wednesday, but any info on what might be going on would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like it could possibly be a fuel system problem. The symptom that you have with taking long to start is the same as pretty much everyone that has a fuel pump go bad.
hope this helps, good luck, -Drew

from what you said it sounds like a bad ground. maybe the battery/ground cable or any of the other ground straps on the motor. they may be frayed up a little or broken. you said it happened ,then you cleaned the terminals and it was better then it did it again right? check the grounds and the pos. cable for excessive wear ,fraying, or bad connections.

troubleshooting...
Does it crank strong?
If it is weak or hit and miss, trace all grounds. You have to really go down the mental list of components plugs, wires, distributor(cap+rotor) but also the distributor itself, relay, starter ground, etc. If it is strong. Check fuel delivery, pump(do you hear it prime when you turn the ignition?), fuel filter arrangement, injector ground, etc... Good luck.

It cranks strong now. Before when it wouldn't start at all it cranked a little and then went completely dead. No crank, no power. So I'm thinking its most likely fuel related. Thanks for the help guys.
