Default 4.6 tbird

hey guys

my sister has a '96 tbird with the 4.6
i just talked to her on the phone, it's acting up, engine light is on and it just doesn't perform the same, little less power and not as much pickup.
she said her mechanic said that the egr comes up, but he doesn't think that's it, that something else is triggering that. any ideas?
maybe 6 months ago she had the iab replaced because it had a crack in it. don't know if that makes a difference.

i posted this in the windsor section that i frequent, but they don't really have many suggestions...

the problem is she can't really afford to start buying things at random like o2 sensors and stuff...

thanks in advance for any suggestions.

What specific codes were pulled? Only the EGR code? If that code was pulled, its a good bet that's where the problem may be. At least it seems more sure then going on some mechanic's guess. With todays cars, the computer codes can help a lot, if not tell the whole story, so thats why I am curious as to the codes.
There isn't a whole lot of info to go on in your post, so you may need to talk to her again and find out some more info.

Check out www.tccoa.com for more help.

sounds more like a problem with the MAF, when was the last time it was cleaned???

check the tccoa.com site and in the Tech articles, under intake, there is a "how to" on cleaning the maf
