how about a 4.6 tbird
hello
my sister has a '96 tbird with the 4.6 i just talked to her on the phone, it's acting up, engine light is on and it just doesn't perform the same, little less power and not as much pickup. she said her mechanic said that the egr comes up, but he doesn't think that's it, that something else is triggering that. any ideas? maybe 6 months ago she had the iab replaced because it had a crack in it. don't know if that makes a difference. thanks in advance for any suggestions.

thanks for your reply, I don't know how I can convince my divorced with kids sister to start spending money on guessing when theres more goin out($) than coming in!
I really don't know how many things it could be, but personally my first action would be to replace the oxygen sensors thanks again and any and all other suggestions welcome!

You should post this in Modular Madness. The 96 Tbird and Mustang 4.6 motors are pretty much identical, so they should be able to give you some helpfull advice??? As for the O2 sensors, if the car has over 50,000 miles it's not a bad idea to swap in new ones anyways. Maybe you could offer to install them for her???
Sounds like it needs a good diagnostic check and tuneup to me. Since that is a OBDII car, it shoud be easier to diagnose??
