E4OD retro fit

Anybody out there ever do this? I want an overdrive for my 460 ranchero. Is this the one to use? This is my tow unit/wife's race car. So it needs to be fairly strong. Thanks

Anyone?

Hmmm. IM not sure if you will want to go with an E4OD. What about just an older AOD? Going with the E4OD you will have to almost retrofit the engine harness onto the car I believe. Isnt the E4OD computer in with the EFI engine computer?? I may be wrong, just a guess. I ve never heard of anyone doing this. but theres a first time for everything

Yes the computers are together because the tranny is completely computer controlled. One way to take care of that is to run your 460 fuel injected and use a F250 or 350 computer/harness to run the motor and tranny.

Go to this link http://www.nloc.info/forum/forumdisp...e=&forumid=452 and talk to Gregg Evans. He's a Ford tranny specialist and knows the E4OD inside and out. That link is to his forum on the NLOC web board.

http://www.baumannengineering.com/elect.htm has kits to put the tranny in stand alone without all the EFI conversion cost and labor.

Thanks for the link. It has lots of good info, and I just what I'm looking for. I hope the price is resonable, I have an e-mail to them now.

Well they got back to me. Its 400 bucks. Kind of more than I'd like to spend, but it sure is a cool program they got.
