how much does it cost to swap a 5.0 into a ranger

I've got a 92 Ranger with a 4.0 liter V-6 in it. The truck has a lot of miles on the engine and I'd like to swap in a V-8. How much would it cost me if I did all the work myself. How much are conversion kits. Would it be cheaper to just piece together a kit(like buy making my own motor mounts, exc.)

I don't know that much on the subject, but since the explorer is basically a ranger wagon, i believe that the 5.0 in those can be fairly easily swapped into your ranger. Getting a parts 5.0 Explorer would probably be the cleanest install. That sounds like a cool project by the way.

Click on link below. It is a good start. Remember if you do the swap, alot of parts can be bought from your local parts house,(Stock parts.)
http://advanceadapters.com sells all the stuff for complete swap. $$

Check out www.members.home.net/cobraflash and/or http://discussions.fordforums.com/forumdisplay.php?s=dfcac1070c281ea6284a80fc8 f674el&forumid=263 They call themselves Team Smurf and is a club made up of Ranger guys who have put V8's into their trucks. They can probably help you.
