clicking under the dash,airbag light

Hello all,

I've got a 93GT. that is starting to have some starting issues. When I turn the key, more often then not, I get a loud click that seems like it's coming from under the dash. If I turn the key a couple of times it starts. I think it's the ignition switch. Any other suggestions?

Also my airbag light is coming on. then it goes off. then comes on. then off... and so on. Anyone ever have that problem. Airbag's not going to blow up in my face is it?

Jayson

Sounds like a bad relay to me ?

As for the airbag DO NOT take the chance, get it serviced. Until you do keep your face away from the module. If that bag goes off while your leaned in near it, it'll toss your head out through the back window !

The air bag light is trying to tell you something. Count the flashes after you turn the key on. It's probably going to be 52 (5 flashes, short pause, 2 flashes). Post the results.

Take care,

OK, I have to move the car 2nite, I'll post what I see.

Started the car and I watched the light. It came on when I turned the key, stayed on after the car started for about 3 seconds - no flashing. Drove around the block, didn't come on. It usually flashes during driving with no set pattern.

Don't start the engine, just turn the key on. If it's going to display a DTC, that's when it will do it. Otherwise, you may have a constant fault, but a bad connection at the bulb. If the bulb is flashing because it found a fault, it will give you a DTC when you first turn the key on.

Turned the key on 2day and the light stayed on for 3-4 seconds and then went off again. If it's not showing a fault, (it blinks the odd time whike I'm driving) are you saying it just might be a bad connection at the bulb?

That's half of it. BUT, you wouldn't ever see the light while driving unless it had detected a problem, so there is probably a fault somewhere, as well as a dirty contact in the bulb circuit.

IMO

Take care,
~Chris

I think my air bag light started flashing a 51 or 52 maybe.... what is that code? It started right after I sprayed on a pass...Left hard if that helps anything.

I was driving it today and the airbag light came on. It flashed 4 times and then 5. did that twice and then went off.

A code 45 on your air bag light I think is the ground circuit to your right front sensor is open or there is corrrosion somewhere. The sensors are located right in front of the radiator. Do not disconnect anything, check and make sure mounting bolts are clean and tight. Also check and see if there is any rust on the case of the sensor. There is a rivet, on one side of the case, it may be all corroded up on the inside this is the ground. If you don't find anything simple, take it to someone who knows what they' re doing, airbags are dangerous and should only be worked on by somebody who knows what he is doing. Hope this helps, Kevin

OK I will check it out. Won't mess with it if it looks good

Thanks.
