Truck acting weird
Hello everyone
My daily driver is a 1992 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L.(over 150,000 miles) Recently it has been idling rough untell it warms up(average driving about 10 minutes or so). Another problem is when I bought it, it didn't have an oil change for over 60,000 miles. Then when I performed the oil change it spuddered alot and died off and on. And finally the third problem is that when I try and start it, it takes a while to fire up(about 15 seconds) The only thing done to the truck is new platnium spark plugs, wires and K&N filter. You guys might ask why I bought a truck like this, the truth is it was a present from my brother(thats how I know it had not had an oil change for over 60,000 miles) Does anyone have any advice, thanks. |
My advice would be take the engine apart and clean it, and rebuild it with fresh parts. It isnt practicle, but, if it went 60k miles without an oilchange it has problems, andthere is no doubt about that. That is entirely to many.

Thanks for the reply Bigred90gt
I don't think the engine itself is in that bad of shape for going 60,000 miles without a oil change. It doesn't leak or burn any oil at all. At hi-way speed it runs perfect except for bad gas mileage(12MPG). Does anyone know what kind of gas mileage this truck should get? Thanks |
