Default High Amp Alternator

I'm thinking of adding a high amp alt from an LTD to my 70vert. It is one of those one wire jobs. I've been told to leave the old Alternator harness still plugged into the main wire harness just tie it out of the way. Then unplug the voltage regulator, as the new Alt is internally regulated. Hook the new One wire from the Alt to the battery, or in my case since the battery is in the trunk to the positve side of the starter solenoid. Does this sound correct, am I missing anything?
