Exhaust is a good place to start. Air intake, ie K&N, cool air kits, etc are next. Then n2o. Dollar for dolllar, you couldn't beat about a 75hp shot for an increase in hp.

are you gonna race the truck? it allready has over 200 hp, but you could put a chip in it to override the speed limiter.

I have a 93 4.0 5sp 2wd RANGER over head valve i think you have over head cam i put Borla headers Borla cat back Pro m 75mm mass air Mustangs Black magic electric fan. I made a couple passes at the track 1/4 15.4 with a 2.1 60ft ive just added 99 cobra wheels 17x8 with 255/45/17. Try calling DENNIS HILLARD at CENTRAL COAST MUSTANGS (661-823-2400) thay should be able to help. Thay built a 12-second 4.0 MAZDA truck (same as ranger) Also the 4.0 is a very good motor i got 113000mi and never had any trouble.

No I'm not looking to race it but I DO NOT want to leave it stock I just want it to be mid modded. Like exhaust, a few engine mods. I am getting it primarily as a daily driver and to haul stuff around because my true project car is an 89 LX 4 cylinder. I am not sure on what year of ranger I want, prefferably a 99 and up, but it must have the 4.0L v-6 in it.

yeah, for shure get the 4.0 v6. I have a 97 4banger and it is Sloooowwwwww. Also try to get an extended cab, the extra room comes in handy(not for carrying people). Have you been to the other bb, Fordranger.com? Also note: 97 and older rangers have the twin I beam front end. 98 up have the ball joint type. The older one is stronger, but the newer one gives a better ride. P.S. Shop around, I got my 97 with 80k miles for $3,500. Not bad it is a nice truck.

Have you looked into Dodge trucks? I own an 01 Dakota with a 4.7 in it. Dodge really did a nice job with this engine. Test drive one. Youll love it. Also if you got a cxouple of extar bux you can get the R/T which has a 5.9 in it...They are bigger, better and faster...

\just my opinion
