converting a 93f150 with 5.0 to a mustang 5.0 what do i need to change?
I have a 1993 ford f150 with a 5.0 engine with a 4sp automatic transmission. How much work is involved in the swap? What is involved as far as tranny, exhaust, wiring harnes and so on. The motor is pretty shot and drinks 6 quarts every 3,000 miles and also has a nasty oil leak that chokes you in the cab. I just wanted a few extra ponies if it is possible. The truck is 2 wheel drive with a posi rear end.

Yeah, from what I have read I believe the ford truck 302 had 160 hp. Not much to brag about. I would think the mustang would be over 200. I had a buick t type which was a 85 and that had a stock of 200. The truck motor is a gas hog. Atleast with a stang motor I will have more passing power.

I was just curious. my dad and i are going to swap the 3.8 out of my 1983 F100for a stang5.0. and had the same questions about the tranny.what tranny did your truck have on it.and did you find out if it worked with thestang 5.0.
thanks jory |

I'm no expert but as far as I know, the only things different from the truck 5.0 to the stang 5.0 is the intake setup and camshaft. Trucks for that year typically used speed density with all the associated computer hardware. So you'll have to swap out the computer along with the wiring harness and all the MAF components into the truck. Then find a place to mount the new airbox. Engine should bolt right up to the transmission I think. Same with the exhaust.
Stock horsepower for that year would be about 190-200. |

Cam and intake are the only differences. Slap a stang cam and retrofit to roller rockers and change to an aftermarket intake for stang It'll will require a little engineering to get tb and sensors to hook up but its worth it.
