4 cyl t-5
I have a 4 cyl t-5 and I heard that I could use it with a v8. What would I need to change or modify to use this in a v8 car?

Re: 4 cyl t-5
There are differing opinions on how well the 4 banger T-5 will hold up. It's definitely not nearly as strong as the V8 T-5s, and those T-5s don't have the best reliability record as it is.
The 4cylinder cars had non-world class T-5s with weaker input shaft bearings and other internals. They also had different gear ratios, and the input shafts were different lengths. Personally, I'd find a little extra cash and put a world class unit in there rather than gambling with the glass jawed 4banger unit. |

Re: 4 cyl t-5
I m using a 5 speed out of a 4 banger in mine this summer ,it will proabbly brake but i know people that have used them and got away with it. you have to change the pilot bearing. They are geared a little lower too so it will mess your speedo.

Re: 4 cyl t-5
Shouldn't change your speedo. The speedometer gear is driven off the output shaft of the transmission so the speedometer doesn't care what gear you're in, just the output shaft revolutions. If it's wrong, you're just using the wrong speedo gear.

Re: 4 cyl t-5
Instead of changing the pilot bearing, change the weakest link....the input shaft. It's not that complicated and you will thank yourself later. How much power are you planning on running through that thing? (Cause if it's "some"!!!.....Homer Simpson).
