general questions on 351w
I just picked up an '83 F150 4x4 that had a 6cyl, but now has an '89 351W. There is no timing pointer. It has a Holley 600 carb. It's leaking oil. But it's a decent truck to tow my boat and maybe go off roading when I get time to fix it up.
I need to set the timing, what are some EASY ways to do this without having to take stuff apart. I need to either down jet the holley or get a stock carb. where can I find info on doing this or where can I get a cheap carb - what I mean is cheaper than a rebuilt at autozone. I have no idea what emmisions control is supposed to be on this! It's an '83 and in Massachusetts that means no emmissions test, but I want the thing to run right. From the Haynes manual I can't even figure out if this year is supposed to have any emmissions equipment in place. What is the best recommendation for running this truck. I'd be happy with the bare essentials! In the end, it runs good after it's warmed up which has to be done by keeping on the gas, otherwise it stalls. Any info about any portion of this post would be helpful. Thanks!
