Chip for 99 F-150
Anyone know if you can get a chip for a '99 F-150 5.4 liter (I think it's a 5.4 liter) it's my grandfathers truck, he keeps begging me to find a chip for it. (He rules) Anyone have a chip for that engine? How did it help? Any difference? Thanks.

Give this guy a try. He has helped many of us with Lightnings and is *extremely* customer oriented.
Mike Troyer Performance Products, Inc. National Distributor of Superchips (540) 862-9515 mtroyer@compuserve.com When I put mine in on the L, the assometer definately felt a big difference in throttle response with firmer shifts. I haven't been to the track but others report as much a a .5 gain in the 1/4 mile. Results on a straight 5.4 may be different but even if 1/4 mile performance is not your goal, I believe the chip provides better overall driveablity. Mike can also customize a chip to your specific needs (towing, performance, etc.) Hope it helps. ------------------ '93 Cobra, 1 5/8" FMS shorty headers, 2 1/2" Mac cat-pipes, Borla cat-back, 180 degree thermostat, 4" ram air, 3.55 gears, March pulleys, strut tower brace, Kenne Bell flip chip, Crane Hi-6 ignition, Crane coil, Global West Trac-Link, Hurst chrome shifter, Canton oil pan, BFG g-force kd tires '99 L, JL Stage II Ram Air, Bassani cat-pipes, Borla cat-back, R9 Superchip, Cal-Tracs, Chassis Tech 2" drop shackles, Water Wetter [This message has been edited by BlueOvalBolt (edited 03-06-2001).] |

Yes, Superchips would definitely be the way to go. We sell them at work and have had great feedback.
Your Grandpa and my Grandma would make a very cool couple! She's a major gear head! Good luck! ------------------ Nicolle Douglas Girls Can Too, Editor The Mustang Works Magazine 1993 Mustang GT - Supercharged K.C. 306 483.6 rwhp / 472.1 torque @ 7 psi |

Thanks for the help guys. Check this out Nicolle. My grandpa is so cool, he already had custom exhaust put on. (true duals with flowmasters) and he wants a chip now. He told me the other day that if he put the chip on and didn't see enough difference, he knows a place in california that makes a twin turbo kit for the 5.4L!!! Is that cool or what! I told him even if the chip works, he still needs the turbo. Funny thing is, all he does with the truck is hawl his fifth wheel gooseneck camper trailer. I'd love to see a truck with a camper smoke a 5.0!! :-)
