Default Starting Issues

Just bought a 90 GT 5.0 and the guy that I got it from said he replaced the ignition switch but could never get it adjusted correctly. When I start the car it takes 3 attempts and it usually starts on the 3rd try. Being new to Fords and Mustangs is just an adjustment that I need to make? Is it that simple or is there another problem?
