Question Gas mileage?

Just curious...what kind of city mileage does everyone get here, and with what parts combo? See my signature. I'm just curious to see if anyone else sees this kinda mileage..cause I thought that's pretty d*mn high!!

I'm gonna double check my odometer cause I really dont believe this. I have somewhat of a lead foot...so 19 mpg ALL city is outrageous. It seems like I go through gas so quick..but then my tank is TINY. It seems like it'll only hold about 12 gallons. When I'm running between E and 1/4, it only takes 9 gallons.

17 mpg lugging that much weight? Jesus...that's pretty nice dude. Do you have tranny slip from that yet? My friend's dad has an F-150 that slips so bad from towing his tools and it's only like 2 or 3 years old. It needs a new transmission already...if he stomps on the gas pedal, it'll just rev and roll slowly until it gets up to like 15 when it starts grabbing solid.

Nope, not at all. It get's up and moves pretty good, all things considered. I am on my second clutch, though.

BTW, Your gas tank is 15.4 gallons.

Dude thats awsome. My f-150 (same engine, less weight) gets terrible mileage. If I hit 200 miles, I better find a gas station or I'll run out soon. My stang gets about 250 miles when I fill up. I usually run it down to where the bottom of the needle is on Empty.

Maybe my gas needle is defective... Cause it'll take 10 or 11 gallons when it's sitting right on E...MAYBE 12.. But that's pushing it.

i have same trouble, when i get down to E it'll only take 10.XX gallons of gas to fill it up. i get nervous so i guess i don't let it go down enough so that it's realy empty.

And now you know why. Most vehicles have another couple of gallons in them when the gauge gets to empty, but you should never rely on that.

I am almost always driving in the city - I get about 15 mpg. But when I take trips anywhere, driving on the highway I get 21mpg.

I get 22-23 freeway.... 15 or so in town.... I have about 4 gallons left when it hits E. As Chris said its a 15 gallon tank, so figure it out.

I usually get 23-24 pure open highway and about 20 with "combined" driving. Pretty good for a carb and 3.73 gears. We took a trip to maine and I got 25 mpg for one leg of the trip! This is fully loaded with the car scraping along the ground from the weight.

Going off on a tangent, since I started it so I'm allowed... You guys ever run race fuel? My timing's at 13-14 degrees and I pumped 3.5 gallons of race fuel into roughly 7 or 8 gallons of 93 octane today and holy crap, it runs AWESOME. It's 110 octane unleaded. Cam2 GT I think it's called.

Maybe you had some bad gas before, but with your mods, and that base advance, race gas would be more likely to slow you down.

I think I did have some bad gas...cause I pumped it full of 92 octane today and it ran just fine again. So, it would slow me down because it's making the ignition work harder to burn it right? Only way I could get power out of it would be to advance the living sh*t out of it since the extra octane would allow for it, I assume....but I'm afraid of timing. I broke in the motor at 16 degrees accidentally and it never felt like it ran good until I discovered it and cranked it down to 13-14....
