Welcome to the board!!!

From what I've heard, Borla is the way to go if you have the $$ to spend. You might have to get new side skirts with an opening for the exhaust. As far as companies that make a side exhaust for 99+ GT's, I think Borla, Magnaflow, and Classic Concept Designs all make a kit.

As far as sound, I'd go with Borla. A little more expensive but well worth the money. Hope I helped a little bit (I tried)

Thumbs up

My side exhaust is Borla. I have a crappy sound file in my signature. Click on the link to my 96GT and give it a listen. It's fairly representative of the sound with a stock hpipe.

BTW - Welcome to the board!

I would pick Borla over Flowmaster. I had flows on my 91 and they were alright but it sounded like every other stang out there. On the 01, I'm going with Borla. I just want a different sound.

Cool

Wouldn't recommend it over the Flow sound but it is different.

Wouldn't be a bad choice.

If I am not mistaken, Borla made the side exhaust for the "R". I believe they sell the same kit, and I think that kit is on EBAY for $299 (buy now option.) Add to that a bassini X-pipe, again, same as on the R, and you will be sounding pretty close. Except, you have about 50 less cubic inches.

1997 Thunderbird 4.6L: Dynomax cat-back, MN-12 perf. offroad downtubes and Y-pipe w/ Magnaflow resonator, 80mm MAF with cone filter, B&M trans cooler, Inject-Tech chip, KVR front brake upgrade. 15.2 @ 91 before exhaust. Not bad for a 3800lb auto 4.6L

No Longer own: 91 LX 5.0L 5 spd
