Post 89 Mustang Question

I have a question if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. I have one door handle broken on my 89 Mustang, and I'm not sure what part I need to get, whether it be a whole new door handle or something else, the handle just lifts and that's all, it doesn't open the passenger door at all, I have to open the door from the inside of the car. Any help or advice would be great!

thanks.....

you should take the door pannel off, & see if the stuff is even connected to the handel, it might not even be broken

you will need to look inside to see what part is broken...there is a small steel rod that connects to the handle...could be that..or the handle itself.
You will need to remove the handle to find out...you can see it from the inside of the door also if you remove the inside panel. The rivets need to be drilled out of the outside handle to remove it.

Not sure if it's the same construction, but in my '95 GT, the door handle is connected to a rod that runs down to the door latch. There is a small plastic retainer where the rod connects to the latch. Maybe that's broke. If it is, the rod would be loose inside the door. Try slamming the door and see if you hear the rod banging around in there.

BTW, I think it would make sense why the rod retainer may be broke, because you stated that the inside door handle works, which doesn't use that retainer.
