Supra owners ask: Why do Stangs sound so good?
I found this on another board. Thought you guys might like it. There are some reasonable replies but a few are just plain stupid.

pretty cool stuff pony. i'm not surprised that supra guys (or any other honda or mazda guy) like the sound of a healthy 5.0 V8 engine. i've gotten complements on my '94 GT with just 2 chamber flows and no other mods. pretty cool.
and, a Supra would look pretty good in my garage i must say . next to a stang, a supra would suit me just fine.

Reading that was actually quite refreshing, of course there's some that had immature responses but still, that's the most respect I've ever seen for mustangs on an import board. Come to think of it my car does sound damn good About it being slow, there's a few supras that can't say that to me.

Hahaha.. that's one of the perks of owning/wanting to own a Mustang. I can't wait.
I love Supra's but I'll take the Viper in my garage. BTW, talking about the exhaust sound. I got to here one today, trying to race down the street and jump infront of some people. It was a GT, I love the Cobras! Can't wait to own one!!!

Supra vs Viper.......
a Viper is virtually unatainable for me. but a Supra could be in my grasp one day if things go as hoped in the future. i'd take the Viper for the performance. but a Supra is still way cool. descisions descisions...... and i love the sound of Cobra's as well. IMO it sounds more intimidating than a GT. oh well, one day.....

A Viper unatainable? A used one is just $35,000(+ or -).
No to bad, huh?

I used to have people compliment me on my car when i had it on the street. I remember one time pullin into the main hangout here, and I just had shut the car off. This import boy came up to me with a bunch of his friends and he said man "How did you get that thing to sound like that"? Then he said "wished my car sound like that, and i said it can. And he said how though?? And i said well for starers you can ditch your Maxwell House Coffee Can in the back. Should have seen the look on his face. haha PRICELESS.
Later Eric

Those guys seem to think they know what they are talking about. But does fireing order really make the difference. wouldn't the sound be based more on the bore size, displacement, shape of the cam. I just don't see how the th firing makes the sound much different from engines with similar displacements. Those guys all seem to agree that it is the firing order.

srv1, looks to me that someone had too much $ and free time on his hands. any idea if the car was actually fast? hhmm
and $35K for a used Viper is just fine with me. but it can't just be any Viper. and ACR(?) Viper or a Henessy will only do

Here's what 18436572 firing order sounds like at idle in a 350 with decent cam and Flowmasters:

And I also think the entire topic is stupid. Why do they sound that way? Because they do. Why does a kenworth diesal sound that way? because it does. Dont them ricers have anything better to talk about? |

I LOVE the way Mustangs sound. My favorite car sound... It is literally music to my ears.... Then again, I love the way a nice '69 Z28 sounds...
