They were stupid racing where they did. Go to an industrial park with a road that has no roads turning onto it for a half mile and race a standing start 1/4 mile. Or get on an interstate where no one can get in front of you until the next on-ramp, then you can run whatever length you decide on. Personally i go to the dragstrip and there is a dragstrip in the dallas area, of course some people live pretty far from a dragstrip.
