Unhappy what happen with my NOS?

Guys, last night i went to the track to tried out my new NOS 75 dry shot. Before i put NOS i ran the best time of 14.45 with edelbrock intake,72 proM,24 lbs injectors, fully exhaust, aluminum drive shaft, traction bar, pullies and stock 16 inch pony rims with not-so-much-of-treads-left tires bad clutch and bad synchro.Last night i ran 14.46 with the juich off the line with cobra upgrade tranny and new king cobra clutch, new 15 inch weld rims.traction was a problem but not as bad.I tried both idle off the line and play with rpm off the line the result still the same. After 3 runs i experience detonation on 3rd and 4th gear.I have stock plugs with 0.054 gap, retard timing to 8 degree, stock fuel pump and fuel pressure is 47 psi with vac.line off. What the hell is happen here!I thought i would be running low 13 or even high 12. What have i done so wrong? 93 coupe.

Did you launch on the nitrous with street tires? If you did that probably just spun the **** out of your tires, and thats what caused your bad ETs. The important part that we need to know is what was your MPH before and after?

Try going to a step colder plug and gap them at .035. I run autolite 24's.

What fuel pump are you running?

I didn"t spin that much off the line because i know that i have the juice waiting for me,and yes i have check the bottle they were open all the way (refill overnight before)one thing though i bypass pcv vac.line from intake to air box due to excessive oil inside intake.would that cause the problem also?

I agree the colder plugs and smaller gap will help, but I also want to know why you are running 47psi of fuel pressure

You can try hooking the PCV hose to the intake tube that should solve the oil issue, if you have the hose in the air box the oil is going through you Mass Air meter which is very bad.

I run alot of FP too Rick. I guess I go by the better safe than sorry. My car does load up alot when I run the A/C and it's hot out, but only if I start it within 10 mins of shutting it off. I run about 48 with vaccum off. I just changed my plugs today after 20k miles and about 10 bottles and they looked perfect.

5000cc, you need to be running at least a 190lph fuel pump. I will guarantee that you will not see detonation if you upgrade your fuel pump and get the colder plugs gapped smaller. I have NEVER detonated at all and I'm running a 150 shot.

I don't care what NOS says about the stock fuel pump, I would upgrade that first. It can make 47psi at idle, but on a dry kit, the extra fuel is supplied by spiking the fuel presure up to around 80psi at the regulator. That pump is probably falling on it's face under load, and not supplying enough fuel. You run lean and detonate.

While you're at it, install a new fuel filter.

Moxie, you probably right but i only used 75 shot and when NOS kicked in it read 70 psi and that's plenty of psi for 75 shots isn't it?NOS said it should be at least 38 psi for 75 shots and 80 psi for 150 shots.

Just take our word for it. You should really upgrade your fuel pump. I don't want to see you come on here and tell me you blew a head gasket and bent some valves because you didn't put a $200 fuel pump in. Believe me, it'll cost a whole helluvalot more if you break something. Just some food for thought.

Get a fuel pump! Go with a 255lph that way you can upgrade your jetting safely later too. I'm running the dry kit with a 190lph on a 125 shot now.
