Default 1970 conv

I'm just finishing a restoration on a 1970 Conv. It's one wild ride and I'm looking to put in a killer sound system. The only thing is there is no place to mount speakers. Any ideas? The only thing I can come up with is to fabricate speaker boxes, but I dont want it to look cheesy. Also where is a good place for the subwoofer. The trunk floor is my gastank and dont want to mount it on that!! If I put the box off to one side, will it really effect the direction that the bass comes from?
