Default adding aftermarket sub to stock soundsystem

I have a 2002 GT, without the Mach 1000 soundsystem. It has what Ford calls the "Premium" system, with a DIN and a half sized CD/Tape head unit, and front and rear speakers.

I have wired a sub/amp/box into a factory GM system before, and I know that I'll need a line level converter to do it in the Mustang...can anybody out there tell me if I'm going about this the right way? I know that with the converter, I'll have to tap into two speaker signals (probably rear speakers) but does this have to be done at the harness, or could I do the tap near the speaker connections? I have gotten alot of shadetree mechanic advice, and I figured you guys here would be the ones to know the answer.

Please describe in detail, if you don't mind. Thanks in advance!
