Its your wiring there are two positive wires that run to the cd player a yellow and a red.

Usually the yellow is your 12v lead and the red goes to your ignition. You did not twist the yellow and the red wire together did you?

I don't know if he did, but I have. I wasn't aware that that would cause a problem. I have also experienced the "heat" problem, but only after several hours of use on long road trips. Would you please explain to me why joining those wires would cause a problem, and what other solution there is, that would work safely, that would allow the units use without having to turn the ignition on? I don't usually ask many questions here, but would really like to know! Please advise.

Thanks!

Take care
~Chris
