Pioneer EXPLOSION
 

hey my dad was helping me jump my car with our starter the outher day and put the starter on thw rong setting I was in the drivers seat trying to start it and a HUGE puff of smoke cam out from under my Pioneer Premier DEH-P600 now it sounds like a cd skipping bad all the time even on the radio and sometimes its just a high pitch squeel in order to hear the music I have to turn the vol all the way up...ok so heres my Q: is the whole thing blown or new outputs or what?.....

If you can turn the volume all the way up and still here your stuff then my guess would be the pre-amp inside the unit. If not, it should still be one of several problems that can occur inside a head unit. My suggestion is to take it in for a diagnostic and possibly repair. Hopefully its under warranty. To me it sounds like the pre-amp. Hope this helps you.
