'88 Mustang GT alternator

I am trying to put a system in my '88 mustang gt. I have two amps, one is 1000 watts, the other is 400. I would like to know what I should do with the alternator. The stock will deffinatily not be powerful enough to run all that. Please send me suggestions. Also suggestions for where to but my subs. My box that i have right now is tooo big for the small trunk. Thanks alot. Anthony

You best bet would be to install a 130amp alternator from a 94+ GT.

Here's a link to a tech article about the swap. It's a pretty straight forward swap.

Also, it should be easy enough for you to build a box that will fit into the hatch of of a Mustang GT. A vert might be more difficult but I'm quite sure it can be done. If you don't feel comfortable building a box, I'm sure a local sterio shop is more than capable of building a box for you.

What size subs are you running? What brand? Number of them?

What's your set up?

P.S. if you have any more questions or want any suggestions, please feel free to post them.

My system

I'm running two 12' Kenwoods. The box was built for cerwan vega's but i blew them and Best buy didn't carry that model anymore, so since then i have had pioneer imp's in the box too. The kenwoods sound the best. For my speakers i have polk audio. I also have a 1 farrad cap hooked up. All this is in an 88' Escort. I have had tons of problems running it.
