High powered Alternators
Well the Stang is off to the shop to get aligned and then painted(crossing fingers). When the alternator goes belly up. I was going to buy a stock one then thought about puitting in one of those high amp jobs. Since I'm going to be adding the new system amps and all I might need one. I'm running the Sony MP80 head unit, with a JBL BP600.1 (300wt) amp to power the sub. In case you forgot LOL Do you think I should go with a high amp unit? What size? I've seen the stock 55amp, 60amp,65amp, or a 140amp! Jeez that could power the house. Those were for Fords. Could I add a GM style with the built in regulator? They come in those sizes and also an 80amp and a 100 amp?

actully dude that's a 600watt amp if you wire it up 2ohm, even more power at 1ohm.
But anyway, back to your question. My JBL 600.1 made my alt needle go bouncy bouncy all the time with my stock 75amp alt. I'd suggest going with a 100 amp and up alt. Especailly if your running nice things like a eletric fuel pump or fan.

300.....600......ahhhh whats the difference! LOL It's gonna be way too loud anyway. But then can you really be too loud?! I guess the cops will let me know!
OK so I need a high powered alt. They make them 55/65/ then 140 for a ford, with then external regulator. The 140amp is like $250. a little pricy. I can get a 100amp but its for a GM with the internal regulator. But how would I go about hooking it up to my harness?

If you use a nice gel cell battery and maybe 1 possible 2 , 1 farad caps you won't need to worry about anything. I am running 3 punch 100's from the 94-96 era at they each pull 35 amps ( ea is = to 400+ watts at a 2 ohm load) and all I have is 1.5 farad cap, and 1 optima 800 battery, and I doubt that jbl is stable at 1 ohm

a cap will help, but not enough. I'd highly suggest a larger Alt.
