Default help with aftermarket reciever

I just bought a Pioneer reciever for my 1989 Mustang Lx.. I followed the intrucstions and hooked up all the wires.. When I went to put it in the car I turned it on and had power, click tuner and there was no sound coming from the speakers. I was reading on the back of the package that I bought to install it and it said that it wouldn't work with any factory amp that is built in the car. My stepdad and I found a amp right behind the reciever. If anyone knows what else I would have to buy to get this to work or if there is anything that I could do to disconnect the factory amp..

Any information would be useful... thanks

I'm not to good with the newer stangs electronics, but from what I can remember most people just bypass the old system, unless you need the factory amp. That is dont splice into the ford harness. Just make like it's not there and run the wires straight to your speakers.

yeah just running new wires is the easiest thing. if you have aftermarket amps for your speakers, you will have to do it anyway.

It may be aftermarket? I am not familiar with the 89's, and wether or not they had stock amps, find out what kind of amp it is, factory ones sometimes say the "Ford" or "Chrysler" ect..

Try hooking up the speakers direct to the deck with out the wiring harness going to the factory wiring, see if that works
