Default 460 CD player problems

I just purchased a 94 GT Convertible and everything works great, except the cassette player and the CD player. What is the best way to go, replace with 460 parts, replace the whole system, repair it, or have it repaired?????

Its easier to just replace the head unit and cd player. If you decide to upgrade to aftermarket, you would have to replace the 3 amplifiers, 4 6x8 woofers, 4 tweeters, that is present in the Mach 460 system. It would be ashame also being this system produces 460 watts of peak power! There are plenty being sold on ebay but you would have to look for a seller with a good reputation. Also note that Sony did a bad design job of the cd player during the early 90's. Get a head unit and cd player that has a production date of at least 1997 or above. That way, you avoid the cd players with the "clicking death" syndrome.

What makes you think you have to replace all that if you go with an aftermarket headunit?
You can purchase the harness kit from Best for the premium system the part number is BHA5511
The kit for the standard harness is BHA1770.

Reliability of the stock HU is not too impressive. It is simple to swap it for an aftermarket & still retain all your other OEM components. Plus you will not have to cut any of the harness in the car if you purchase the correct harness kit.
