Frustrated!
I'm so frustrated right now, I've tried so many different things and nothing seems to be working so I'm about to post everything up on eBay and sell it.
Currently, I'm running an Alpine head unit with an Audiobahn Flame Q 1100 Watt RMS 12" sub with a Rockford Fosgate 500a2 700 watt RMS amp. I've currently got the sub mounted into the wheel-well in a custom made box, the box was constructed properly and sounded alright with my old legacy amp +- 400 watt RMS (i just got the new audiobahn, before i had a MTX Thunder 8000 which didn't need that much power.) Anyway it sounded like it just needed a lil more oomph (power) so I strapped on the RF 500a2 and it still sounds like absolute crap and now if I attempt to up the "bass controls" or anything like that it'll cut out (wiring somewhere, I think). I'm just so sick and tired, I'm about to sell it all and buy a 4 ch amp and get some better 61/2s and 6X9s. Any suggestions? I just can't seem to get the sub "thumping." Anybody got any experiance with Audiobahn's? More Info: My sub has Dual 4-Ohm Voice Coils and it is 1100 Watt rms (2200 Watt Peak), and should be operated at 2 ohms, my amp can run in either 2 or 4 ohms. I've got it setup for 2 right now, as the sub requests it. I just need somebody who has had good luck setting up a nice system in a 1990 Mustang GT Convertible. and I've taken out the piece at the front of the trunk so there is a lil' of airflow between the trunk and people space. In case that came to anybodys mind. Any help is good help. Thanks, Kyle |

What kind od power supply are u running?
Maybe u need more juice. Maybe even a blastercap. A 1 farut should work. I can't remember the real name, but it's like a condenser.

What gauge power/ground wire are you using?

I think it has a crossover chip underneath and it prolly needs to be set at low pass? how did you wire it at 2 ohms? is it stereo 2 ohms or mono 2 ohms?

mustangman, I think the word you're looking for is capacitor. How is the amp getting a signal, if you're getting too hot a signal from your amp or set the gain higher than the amp can handle (possible running low ohms) that can cause it to cut out.
