Default Just a little more bass.

My cobra has the mach 460 sound system with the 6 disc in dash cd changer. It sounds good but it needs just a little more thump.

Weight is also a consideration since the cobra is my weekend LS-1 killer.

I was thinking of a 10" woofer in a sealed box with a 400 watt amp. I have an old punch 200 amp which puts out 400 watts rms laying around so I will use it.

I was thinking of a JL audio w6 10" woofer.

What do you think.

I would recommend a kicker comp. VR-10" it would take up about the same amount of space as the JL, less than a cubic foot, but the kicker will sound better and a lot louder. If you can afford it get a fiberglass box custom built at a stereo shop or on your own if you know how. It will be a whole lot lighter!!!! It should run about $200.00 to get one built, depending where you live.

Hope this helps some!!!!!!!
See ya,
Karen

Kicker a lot better? I havn't listened to both side by side to compare sheer volume, but I prefer the sound of w6's to kickers. Myself I have 3 10" w3's hooked up to a 600watt amp in my stang that provides adequate bass. So my prefrence is for the w6, but I'd say to go listen to any subs you're interested in.

I think the jl audio w-6 is equivalent to a solobaric, with the solobaric being somewhat tighter sounding. A w-6 is definitely louder than a kicker comp. Although, I don't know where your going to get a w-6, they stopped making them over a year ago. Soon the w-7 will be out but it is going to cost like 2-3 times what a w-6 costed.
Also if you're only going with a 10" and are not satisfied by the stock mach system, perhaps you should go with a ported box. JL subs work very well with a port and you get an extra 3db which translates into the equivalent of having a second 10" sub.

In my shop we have a display truck (extended cab dodge ram) that has 3 15" kicker L7's and we have ZR1000 hooked up to coil of the sub heehee that is 2400 watts to each sub. And is hitting 158.3 db. So, I am a huge kicker fan, not to say JL is bad I like them too and they are a little cheaper.

1) You can still get W6's, in fact they are redesigning them. A W7 with less power handleing

2) the W7 and been out for a while now

3) the L7 sounds like ***, it will pound, but sucks for SQ

4) the W6 is better than the VR. The VR is more along the lines of the W3.

digital designs subwoofers, they are rated at over 2000 watts music and can handle even more, they also sound pretty good if you want sq and not all out spl.

i have a buddy with a dd9512 in his car...its loder than nearly all systems around here, even louder than one guy with 3 15's. i am waiting on an image dynamics idmax10 dual 4 ohm to come off back order, until i get that in, i am putting in an eclipse sub this week, also a 10 in a small sealed box (these two both work best in these, ideal for a stang). i have a rockford bd1000.1 to power them and ill have more detials within the next week or so as i begin installing them with a friend thats a professional.

oh, forgot to say this, im still waiting on my sub to come off backorder, ill let you know how it is when i get ti put in.

hes barely pushing them, my buddy is running in the neighborhood of 2200 RMS watts, those subs can handle unbelieveable amounts of power.

Yah I carry image dynamics and I like them but I think I like the xtants a little better. Yah I would like to know what your friend is hitting. We have a guy we installed a 12" Kicker L7 and it is in a little 4 door tracker and he is hitting 148.2 db which is pretty good for one sub. Talk to ya later.
