![]() I got a hurst shifter awhile ago and still am not really happy with it. It seems awefully "notchy" to get into gear, and it ate my inner shift boot. So, I replaced the inner shift boot and noticed that, no joke this thing is eating my inner shift boot. WHY!? I noticed it's getting pinched between the stop and the handle. What's up? Is there something obvious that I'm missing?
I am installing an adj. cable/quad soon, it needs it. Will this help remedy the "notchyness", and how do I know that the stops are adjusted correctly? It's not popping out of gear or anything, sometimes it just takes a little coersion. Thanks. Rob

![]() I have a Hurst shifter & love it. It doesn't pinch the shift boot or anything. I've heard many good things about the Pro-5.0 shifter...you could always get one of those if you're not happy with the Hurst. But I'm sticking with my Hurst.

![]() i had the same problem with my hurst, THAT SHIFTER SUCKS. it ate my boot within 2 days, shifting gears felt like crap. it made the trans feel really sloppy.
GO TO A "PRO 5.0" made a WORLD of difference with mine. i have had nothing but bad experiances with hurst my .02 |

![]() Something must be wrong with you guy's shifters... I've tried out most of the shifters....I really like my Hurst one the best. Notchy? I bought mine because it wasn't like that...
About the inner shift boot. I cut it, so that it fit around the base of the shifter (below the stops.) You wont have any problems with it anymore. ![]()

![]() When i got my car it came with a hurst shifter in it. I think there are two shifters Hurst offers for the mustang, but i forget the names of the two.
The shifter in my car has eaten the inner shift boot, but i don't much mind. The shifter has a very firm, notchy feel that i used to hate, but i love it now because when i really slam the gears i works perfect and slides right in. I guess you have to figure out what you can live with and what you can't stand.
