Help with electrical fuel psi gauge
10-14-03
For you running electrical fuel pressure gauges, I have a question. Does your needle move when you are driving?? Mine seems to sit at 30psi and go up to about 32psi when I nail down on it. I set the psi at about 36-40 and no matter what psi, I set it at,, it reads the same. I set with the vac off and the when driving and watching the gauge is with the vac on......Just wondering if this was correct... Part 2: 10-15-03 Well ,, anyway today it is acting totally different.. It still sits at 30psi, but when I give it gas or get on it the psi goes down to about 22psi. Think, maybe the sending unit is messed up??? This sucks too, I want a FP gauge on when I install the blower...

Hey Mike sounds like somrthing not working right. You send you set the pressure 36-40, did you use a mechanical gauge? Yes it will move around but it should go up when you get on onit. Usually a 8 to 10 psi lowerwith vacuum hook up

I also hooked a mech gauge up to check. I have 2 schrader valves, on behind the alt and one by the regulator. And when I set it at 36-38psi on the mech gauge I was getting about 35-37psi on the electric, with vac off..When I put vac back on they both drop some like to 30 on the electric and 32 on the mech..
Only thing is I can't watch the mech gauge when driving, this is one I bought from the parts store and mounts to the schrader valve with about a 1ft long hose. But when I get on it the psi drops to abotu 22-24 on the electric gauge. You think, running 30# and 255 HP in tank, have something to do with it. Since the injectors deliver more fuel, would the volume be there but not the pressure???????

It shouldn't. a 255 pump should have at least 70 psi open pressure. And it should be able to move plenty of volume at 40 psi. You may have a pick up problem in the tank or pump maybe going away on you

THX-- billheis
I am going to try a test an autometer tech suggested to see how the gauge responds. I hope it isn't the pump I really don't feel like dropping the tank
