Painted Rubber around window...
Hey guys, the last person that owned my 89 GT painted the rubber window molding around the small windows on the sides that say "MUSTANG"...
Is there any way short of replacing the molding to get that off? It looks really bad. I'm gonna have the whole car painted soon and I don't want that to remain. If I ever find that guy again...!!! |
Re: Painted Rubber around window...
no, the moldings and window will not seperate. you can buy reproduction quarter windows from 5.0resto.com or latemodel restoration for 350 a pair...BUT they wont say "mustang" on them...

Re: Painted Rubber around window...
I'm not that familar with your particular year, but if its paint on rubber it can easily be removed. First buy some masking tape and either paint remover or paint thinner from your local auto paint store. Mask off the area around the window and molding to avoid damaging your paint. Use a cotton cloth and wet it with the paint remover/thinner and rub the rubber molding. This should remove the unwanted paint and it wont hurt the rubber.....Good luck!

you should just ask the guys who are painting your car. They should have the materials necessary for refinishing the moulding. You want the finish to look like the black on the bumpers.
