Coilovers

I know this doesnt directly have to do with appearance, but I was wondering if someone could tell me exactly what coilovers are, im only 16 btw, I saw on a site that you could lower anywherefrom 0-5" so I was wondering if there lke airbags kind of but you have to lower, or raise them manually, or just like lowering springs but you can change how lowe they are.

Coilovers

92redstang:

Yes, coilover springs (front & rear) are manually adjustable - usually up to 3.5" - and used mostly for racing applications but there is nothing to prevent anyone from using them on a street car and some people do. You'll get a harsher ride from the increased stiffness of these (mostly) race springs with higher rates. Special struts and shocks must be used with coilovers and installation can be tricky.

Not so expensive as to make them unreasonable and you do get the adjustability factor but frankly, these suspensions aren't a priority for most street-driven Mustangs. Coilover springs are more often found on import cars.
