Stock should be 65mm which is more than enough for a 96-98 GT. It can support plenty of horsepower. There are people with 99-01 GT's that lost power with a bigger throttle body. Usually most 99-01 guys don't change out the throttle body till they put a blower on the car.

I've seen the MAC throttle bodies as cheap as $140 but remember unlike the FRPP throttle body it does not come with the TPS sensor it has be swapped over from your stock unit.
