Default BOSS 351 Stripes

I am currently restoring a 1971 boss 351. It is metallic blue with argent as the secondary color. My question is....If you face the vehicle from the side, you will see the quarter panels painted argent then a gap of about 1/2" showing the blue and then an argent 1/4" stripe. I could have sworn that where the argent paint ends on the quarters there was argent tape appox. 1/2" wide, then the blue then the 1/4" argent stripe.

Which of these two scenarios is correct????
