Engine Detailing

I got a question, whats the best 'degreaser' or any other type of liquid that can be used to clean my engine? I bought the car like a 2 months ago, and haven't gotten to the engine cleaning part. Should i use that 'GUNK' ? or is there something better?

I've always used GUNK, and had good results with it. If noone else replies differently, then go ahead and use it.

I've used Gunk for years. Just spray it on, hose it off, then blow off with an air hose.

I don't care for the foamy stuff tho. You'll probably have to pull the distributor cap and blow or wipe out the moisture unless you wrap it inb plastic.

Thnks, i'll prob buy 2 cans this weekend and take it to one of them car wash places. The ones where you pop the quarters in and the water comes out =). They got that high pressure water.

I'd be careful of those high pressure washers. You might be walking home. You don't need high pressure.

Just use a garden hose with a good nozzle. Make sure engine is warm, not hot when you apply the Gunk, it cuts the grease better. Let it set for 15-20 minutes before rinsing. Really scrungy places make take more than one application.

alright, i thought them high pressure's were better. I bought 2 cans today, 1's foam the other is heavy duty stream.

I got a quick question, lets see... I pop the hood, start the engine, let it sit idle for 5min, spray the stuff, then let it sit for 15min, then hose it down? or...

pop hood, start engine, spray it, drive it for 10min, hose it off?

or my final thought, leave car off...spray it...let it sit....rinse it, turn car on...????
