Unhappy help no wheels on b-day

OK here is your big chance to answer the simple ?
I have a 1989 ford econoline 6cyl. the tension guide popped off while changing the alternator. I put it back with the tit lined up but now cant get serpentine belt to go over the alternator guide. Thanks mark mfcf1234@home.com

Are you sure you have it routed the correct way?? If you do. Check and make sure that the belt is down in the pullies. Check the crank pulley. It is hard to see and might be up on the underside edge. Is it a new belt?? If it is....is it the correct one???

If all else fails the tensioner could be bad, you have it on wrong. How much are you short?? Is it a little bit or quite a lot??
