Talking clay

I am a self proclaimed tight @ss but after i wax my car i still had bumps in the paint so i went to o'rilyes to find some clay but didnt want to fork over 15 bucks for the kit. i kinda know the guy that works there and got it for 6! man what a difference it makes! problem is they give you this lil bitty baby bar of clay. where can i buy a bar thats not in the kit? how much is it? what kind is best?

Clay is really good. Bars are resonable size. I use it.

2 bars for $16.95, but shipping is $8.95. So order some more stuff to minimize the effect of shipping on cost.

I'll second the Zaino clay. The 2 bars you get should last you ~2 years.

What are the little white specs on your paint? Your pic looks good but I think you would benefit from a mild abbrasive (3M Swirl Mark Remover for dark cars), then a cleaner, then your wax/polish as the topper.

Zaino recommends an alkaline car wash before clay to remove wax. They recommend Dawn dish washing liquid for this was but not for normal wash after you have wax on. Tried that on my T-bird and I think it helped. Need to get as much stuff off before using clay as possible. That will speed things up and make the clay last longer.

Since you used it already you know that you need to make up a spray bottle of of dilute car wash to lubricate the surface while using the clay. You really need to wash the car again after clay, not just rinse off, to get all the surface ready for the abrasive or polish or wath ever you use next. There will be clay residue and other residue on the car after clay that will not just rinse off with a hose. At least that is my experience.

Clay also works great on the windshield and other windows, especially windshield to get them really clean for a good coat of rainX or waht ever you use to shine up your windows. Invisible Glass also works good after the clay on the glass.

Couldn't believe all the crap that came off by windows with clay after I thought they were clean.

Ehh, Zymol is alright I guess. There are better waxes out there. Any of the Meguiers products are good....their 3 step system, gold class wax, and the new NXT work very well.

If you have a Harley Davidson store near you, go in and pick up a jar of S100/P21S wax. It's about the same price of Zymol but the results will blow Zymol out of the water....Trust me.
