exhaust leak between header and X-pipe

I have been dealing with a pretty bad leak since I installed my heddman offroad X-pipe to my shorty Hooker headers. It seems to only be on the right side. Due to the fact its an off road pipe there arent many places that will look at it. The only one that has said it was a crack in the header. After spending almost the whole day Sunday taking it off I have found the there is no crack but it is leaking where the two meet up. I have tried to get those dam bolts as tight as possilbe but after the reinstall it sounds worse. I am talking loud. Is there anything that I can do short of getting new headers? Is there a magic goo that would seal it up?

the only thing i can think of is buying a Collector gasket, you can get a percys from summit for about $15.

I know it sounds stupid but I had the same problem until I put it on the 3rd time, with a deep socket rather than a standard size.

on my first stang i had a similar problem. i tightened the bolts down all the way, but it still leaked. After pulling the rest of my hair out, i realized the collector bolts had collars, and the nut was tightened right down to the collar, but the collector to h pipe flange was still loose. The headers i bought (FMS) came with bolts to match it up with the FMS h pipe. the flange on the h pipe is thicker, and therefore the collar on the bolts doesn't affect that setup. but i used a homemade h pipe, and the flange was thinner. i had to pick up shorter bolts. this may or may not be your problem, check it out.
