Question Steeda rear sway bar

I bought this rear sway bar from steeda and had it installed in my car. The stock sway bar stays and the new one just go around behinde the axle back plate (round ball in the middle of the car where the rear gear are).
What I notice is that the sway bar is touching the back plate and is tight. My question for any of you guys who have this type of sway bar is the bar suppose to be tight around the back plate of the axle or is it suppose to be separated?.
Thanks to any of you who answer this for me.

I would think that it should not touch the differential cover as this would cause it to bind and not allow it to do its job. Do you have a girdle on your rear?
