Anyone Know How To Get 96 Mystic Paint?

I just recently bought a Mystic and it needs some paint work. I heard its a pain to try to buy and its really expensive. Has anybody ordered the paint? Is it hard to get? If so How do I go about getting it? Anybody that has any information to contribute is greatly appreciated!

Try autopaintproonline.com, they have several colors and paint supplies...But I think Mystic paint only comes in touch-up bottles.

Actually I have a better one, auto paint library...these are the actual factory colors provided by the manufacturers w/anything and everything you need to paint like sandpaper, masks and sanding blocks. You can search for your paint by make, model and year and you should be able to find the actual Mystic paint color there.

At the ford dealership i worked at a paint specialist had to come out and mix a new batch to spray a door. I hear it's VERY expensive and color matching is difficult.

Yes a paint supply store should have it and its very expensive.im friends with alot of body shop people. There was a mystic 03 cobra at my dealership.its a very rare color option.and hard to match.i would wait to paint the whole car at once.

Thats Mystichrome...The Mystic paint from the 1996 Cobra Mustang is I think purpleish. Actually I could'nt find Mystichrome paint anywhere I looked..I think it may be more than one color applied in different stages. Last summer I passed the only Mystichrome 03 SVT Cobra I've ever seen up close, its' really not that complimenting I think to such an awesome car. I like the Cobras' in either straight silver, black or shadow grey..I was thinking of redoing my 2001 GT (with its' 03 SVT body) in shadow grey..Macco's crappy dark mineral grey paint job is really getting under my skin. Either that or I'll blow the car up and start over. To the original question, if you have a piece of the car thats painted you can go to autopaintlibrary.com and learn where to send it to get a special custom quart or gallon of paint mixed.

Greeeeeg I Was Just Abreviating.im Not Trying To Sound Like A Know It All.and Im Not. But Ive Worked For A Ford Dealership Since 1990. Im Pretty Familiar With Fords.anyways It Looks Cool When You Walk Around It.but Not My Favorite Color Either.im Into Sonic Blue.i Was Gonna Put The 03 Cobra Hood And Trunk Lid With The Spoiler On Mine..but Deceided Against It.i Had The Parts In Black..free From One Of My Body Shop Buds.the Paint Was Peeling So The Help Tryed To Use Chemical Stripper And It It Took Him Too Long To Do.the Boss Ordered New Parts From My Dealer. They Were Under Warranty And Ford Never Called Em Back.thats How I Got Em.i Sold The Hood For 200 And Still Have The Trunk Lid.it Has A Million Holes For The Spoiler Ya Know.i Wouldnttry To Drill My Original Trunk.i Didnt Ever Get The Spoiler Though.if You Know Anyone That Wants It Let Me Know Ill Sell It For 100.it Needs To Be D.a. Sanded Primed And Painted.

Oh I did'nt know if we were talking about the same color..Need the spoiler?? You can get them primed and pretty cheap, I actually bought my 03 Cobra deck lid w/spoiler from someone with a wrecked sonic blue 2004 Cobra. Macco fixed the trunk and obviously painted it after all the parts were on the car...the problem I had was the high mount stop light!!! I bought it from Ford and realized the connection was different..So there I was, for 4 days cutting the plug off the light fixture, stripping the sheething back and trying to spool the copper wiring into the stock 2001 GT electrical connection..I shocked myself 8 times, hit my head 12 times and bought another light after I threw that one into the street (a $150.00 tantrum) and finally got that one to work..Although I was paranoid about the connection wrapped with tape so I ripped the lining out of the trunk and layed rubber matting near where the gas tank is underneath..So far the car has not caught fire. What were we talking about???

YEA. I ALSO NOTICED THE CONNECTION WAS DIFFERENT ON THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT.I AM NOT GOOD WITH ELECTRICAL EITHER.I HAVE FRIENDS FOR THAT.I AM GONNA SELL THE TRUNK LID.I ABORTED THE IDEA ABOUT THE SWAP A LONG TIME AGO.THE COBRA LED BRAKE LIGHT DOES LOOK COOL THOUGH.

Thats what I was talking 'bout, the third brake light. It took me so long after the car was assembled and painted to get in and functional and I sure was'nt gonna drive the car with a long rectangular hole in the back, plus they told me the car would'nt pass inspection until it worked. What I'm happy about though is that the car looks like a clean, true 2003 SVT Cobra..everything from the front/back bumpers, hood, trunk and spoiler, wheels, guage panel and even shift knob..so for those reasons I can put off the engine/tranny swap for a while till I have an extra $10,000. You can make any car drive fast, but if it looks bad then theres no reason to have it on the road. The paint is clean and looks (ehhh, good for a street car) but IM STILL MISSING THAT FREAKIN ROCKER MOLDING!!!!! I can't find it anywhere...Its' probably the last piece that EVERY GT owner whos' converted the body of the car is looking for. When the aftermarket parts dealers finally release it they're gonna know that, and probably charge $500 a piece. Morons....

I have a friend that owned a Ford dealership. He told me several years ago that they had to email a picture of the damage to Ford and then Ford would send just enough paint to do the repair. So much for availability.

When It First Came Out It Was Hard To Get.ford Doesnt Make The Paint.they Know Its Expensive,they Were Just Being Cheap Like Usual.
