Post Safety Recall for 1999 Cobra and 2000 Cobra R

Hey Guys and Gals,
I confirmed with the dealer where I bought my 2000 Cobra R that the following re-call is correct:

Ford Motor Company will issue a safety recall (01S15) for all 1999 through 2000 Cobra Mustangs, including the 2000 Cobra R model to replace the rear steering knucle. The recall affects all Cobra models built from 1999 Job #1 through 28 August 2000. Most 2000 model year Cobras are still used as Ford test vehicles.

The recall is an NHTSA safety concern because "Under very aggressive
driving cycles, the ball joint assembly in the rear suspension knuckle may be displaced out of its installed position in the knuckle boss potentially fracturing the knuckle. A fractured knuckle may cause the suspension to
contact the rear wheel and affect steering control."

Ford or Lincoln-Mecury dealers are authorized to replace both rear knuckle
assemblies on all affected vehicles.

Ford will offer consumers the "Lincoln Commitment Special Handling
Procedure" for all recalled Cobra Mustangs.
