Default hesitation

I've been having problems with my 2001 GT hesitating when it is under heavy acceleration. I have only noticed it happening when hitting the accelerator in a corner or when I shift fast and break the tires loose. I talked to someone at the local Ford garage who told me to replace the fuel filter (with only 14,000 miles on the car). I tried that and it seemed to help a little, but it still hesitates for a fraction of a second under heavy acceleration. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Completely stock except for the K&N air filter.

do you have traction control on? if it detects your wheels breaking loose, it will cause that hesitation. i've noticed when i turn out of a driveway onto a street pretty fast, i'll get hard acceleration, but when the rear starts to slip, it just kinda stop accelerating for a second, and then it will pick up again. and each time i noticed the green trac ctrl light on the dash is on.

Cool

Thanks! I never noticed the traction control light come on when I had the problem, but I turned the traction control off on my way to work this morning and didn't encounter the hesitation problem. I knew someone in this forum would know the solution. Thanks again!

np! traction control is fine when its slippery out and you're spinning out, but it sucks under acceleration. it's supposed to be smart enough to know when to engage and when not to, like under hard acceleration. but obviously it didn't work out how the engineers planned.

Now the problem is that I have to remember to turn it off every time I start the car. It defaults to the on position. I'll check the fuse and see what else I'll lose if I pull that fuse out.

I wouldn't pull the fuse. The traction control could save your car if you have to make an evasive manuver in slippery conditions. Just get used to turning it off on nice days.
